Growing up my brother had Nerf guns. They gave us hours of endless play! Hiding behind furniture, putting each other's eyes out, giggles and so much laughter could be heard. As Allyson and Cooper are to this age of constant play/fight, its time to break out the Nerf guns for them and watch the fun happen!
No one wants to be part of the New Order but the new Nerf Rival gun would entice anyone! This thing is awesome! The Apollo XV-700 and Face Mask are great additions to any gun fight! It comes with ultimate accuracy 7x high-impact rounds. Accuracy is on point too! However, you want to make sure you aren't too close to your target. These rounds come barreling out of the gun at 30MPS. That could leave a bruise, for sure!
The happiness that will come time after time from this box will be amazing! Or at least, I'm expecting. Also, I have a hunch that my husband will be having fun with the kids and this gun!
Pick up the new Star Wars Nerf Rival gun at your local retailer but more importantly, check Game Stop! They have great gifts for this time of year!
Disney's Mickey Mouse: Merry and Scary is now available!!
This looks so cute! I love the old style cartoons, especially when they come back and I can put a fresh face on them for my 2 kids. Allyson has a soft place in her heart for Donald Duck, so this is perfect!
We'll be picking up a copy to watch though the season. How about you?
The Good Dinosaur recently came out on DVD and Blu-ray! The kids and I were lucky enough to watch it on the first day it was out. I knew I'd be in for a little bit of emotion but I had no idea the conversations that would be brought up after the movie, including days later.
I learned so many things from this movie. In The Good Dinosaur, Disney/Pixar asked; What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely, and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? In this epic journey into the world of dinosaurs, an apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend. While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of. I was learning so much right along with Arlo.
Most of all, I learned that my son shows many more emotions than my daughter. Cooper had wet eyes at 2 points in this movie. How he is dealing with emotions as a 4 year old is amazing to me. While we go through our every day life, temper tantrum here and there, its easy to forget that he is a 4 year old trying to find his place in the day and simply needs to act out because that is the only way he knows how to get the emotions out. The Good Dinosaur reminded me of this.
I also learned that I expect a lot from my children. While there is nothing wrong with high expectations, I need to open my eyes a little more and see how the process is effecting the child.
On a few occasions since our viewing of the movie I've referred back to remind Allyson that you need to push past your fear and nervous feelings because the end result is worth it! She is just beginning to make her mark on the world and I really don't want her to hide behind me or her fears when the time comes to shine!
A few quotes I picked up that meant a little something to me:
"Someday you are going to leave your mark on the world."
"Sometimes you gotta get through your fear to see the beauty on the other side."
"You're me and more."
Below you'll find a picture I snapped of the 3 of us after we finished watching the movie. From our faces you can see how we felt about the movie. Ally thought it was really good. I cried and left the couch with a lot to think about. Cooper on the other hand was not very happy at all. He said he enjoyed the movie but I'll quote him with this small spoiler; "This movie isn't good when Papa died in the river."
Pick up your copy of The Good Dinosaur. It is a movie every family should have in their collection and watch over and over again. So many life lessons and quite a few giggles along the way. Be sure to check out the Bonus Material at the end of the movie. My favorite of the bonus material is the Recyclosaurus! They created a dinosaur out of recycled materials! This is a big thing in my home, so seeing the dino made of these materials was great for the children.

I have been raving about Disney and Pixar's newest dvd release since I first saw the trailer over a year ago. My friend Amanda sent me a link and said "You're going to want to see this movie. Watch this." From that moment on the movie has not been too far from my mind.
Inside Out came out on DVD/Blu-Ray Combo this week! I could not have been more excited to share this movie with my children. Allyson and I went with our Girl Scout troop to see the movie, but sharing it with Cooper was a nice treat in itself. It was a really great experience to see this movie with 8 little girls and their parents. Of course we discussed their favorite characters after it was over. Allyson's favorite was Anger. Anger won for her because his hair catches on fire.
A photo posted by Ashley (@sweetcheeksadventures) on
We even earned a patch for discussing our emotions and actions. It was a really great experience. That however isn't the end of our Inside Out story.
Joy is my favorite character. I think there is a reason for this. She is bubbly and always trying to find the greatness in things. Always looking for the point where the situation can be happy instead of sad, disgusting, full of fear, or even turned to pure anger. Let's not blow our tops here. Joy keeps everyone together until well, she gets sucked up with Sadness and thrown to the archives. I don't want to ruin the movie for you but Joy is my hero! She stays positive through everything and manages fix things, but not without the help of her friends!
While Joy is being awesome and positive in the movie, I am working through life like that. I rely on my friends and try to find the happy in every situation. Life would be boringuneventful not fun if I sat around moping in the corner every day! So, we push forward with Joy and slap that smile on our faces, right?
Sometimes we even throw our arms in the air and act like Joy!!
If you are among the few people that have not purchased your copy of Inside Out, I urge you.. Please do so. Share it with your children, nephew, neighbors, the random people down the street... Anyone! Everyone should experience what goes on at Headquarters and get to know Riley.
A little treat for you... Watch all new Pixar Short Clip -- Riley's First Date!!
I love this movie and think it should be in everyone's home. Of course you have probably picked up on that from my words, but really. Pick up Inside Out and place it under your tree this holiday season. Your children will thank you!

My husband and I sat down on Saturday night for a sneak peek of McFarland USA. I don't speak about my husband Jason too much on the site because he is very introvert, but I requested his help with this movie. At first he wasn't sure if he would like it. He informed me that he isn't a fan of Kevin Costner. WHO doesn't like Kevin Costner!!?? Let me tell you a little something else about my wonderful husband and Kevin Costner... Field of Dreams is his favorite movie. Can you recall the main character? KEVIN COSTNER!!! Oh, the insanity of my husband, but I digress. So, Jason wasn't too sure if he'd like this movie but I told him it is based on a true story and it has sports in it. He agreed to sit with me to watch it. He did bring a tablet though. Such shame!
About 15 minutes into the movie, I saw his tablet go down and he was watching the movie! We made a fan out of him! I was enjoying the story quite a bit and come to find out... My husband did too! True stories have always touched my heart a little more than your usual movie, always bringing tears. I did cry a little with this one. I just get so proud and excited for the athletes involved!
A little something I learned that actually is very relevant to my life right now, I learned about Quinceanera celebrations! With our recent move to Florida, I've heard a little bit about this celebration but the words didn't do justice for the pride and absolute fun that is expected to be had at a Quinceanera! I loved seeing this part of the movie!
McFarland USA is available for purchase starting TODAY (June 2nd) so be sure to pick it up while you're out grabbing dinner!

In the tradition of Disney sports movies comes “McFarland, USA” based on a true story of underdogs triumphing over tremendous obstacles. This heartwarming drama follows novice runners who strive to build a cross-country team under Coach Jim White (Kevin Costner) in their predominantly Latino high school. Everyone has a lot to learn about each other, but when Coach realizes the boys’ exceptional running ability, things change. Beyond their talent, it’s the power of family, commitment to each other and work ethic that transform them into champions — helping them achieve their own American dream.
CAST: Kevin Costner (“Dances with Wolves,” “The Untouchables”), Maria Bello (“A History of Violence,” “Prisoners”), Carlos Pratts (“Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones,” “Out of the Fire”), Morgan Saylor (TV’s “Homeland,” “Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant”).

When I gathering ideas and supplies for a party, I like to head over to a party supply website knows as Shindigz! This is exactly what I did when I was planning our DisneySide party a while back. This year I decided on some great Mickey and Minnie Mouse products and personalized cups! Everything was a big hit! Take a look......
A big hit I said! Each child in attendance had a pair of Mickey Ears. The site has may options for Mickey Ears, so be sure to check there if you're having a Mickey Mouse party or just want to summon your DisneySide!
The food was a great hit! To compliment out delicious sandwiches, of course there were cups! I had them personalized to remind everyone why we were having the party. Ordering the personalization was super easy and I love how they turned out!
What is a party without glitter tattoos? These girls had so much fun picking out which Minnie Mouse tattoo they wanted. Many of the girls came back for a 3rd tattoo before the party was over!
To end the party, each child got a goodie box to take home! Special surprises awaited them! I felt like they were perfect for the age range that we had at the party, Some as young as 3 and as old as 6. A little something special for everyone!
Shindigz is a great place to find everything you are looking for when planning a party! Look them up online, get your tableware personalized and party on!!

Every little girl loves to play dress up. Even as women we love to play dress up with our every day wardrobes. Earrings, hair color, dresses and even shoes can be a special part of our day. That being said, I was certainly not surprised when Allyson received a special surprise from Costume Super Center and wore it for days!
Allyson is in love with dressing like Elsa from Disney's Frozen. I am in love with the quality of this costume! The stitching is tight and netting hasn't torn after at least 20 times of Ally being Elsa! She thinks an appearance at dinner as well as homework time is needed. One time she took the dress off to take a shower and put it back on afterward!
Like I mentioned above, this dress is make with great quality. It is true to size. I knew the sleeves would be a little baggy for Ally as most shirts are in her real size. Any little girl would be so happy to have this costume to visit her Elsa side. The length is great and it is easy to slip on and off. The clasp in the back is velcro.
There are so many great accessories to go along with this costume. An Elsa wig, shoes, wand, tiara and even an accessory bag are available for purchase! I am thinking of pairing up the wig and shoes for Ally's Halloween Costume this year. She'll look great and be so happy to be her favorite character, Elsa from Frozen! Check out Costume Super Center's website and on Facebook to see what other great costumes are available.

Disney's movie Into The Woods can be found on DVD and Blu-Ray on Tuesday, March 24th! I had a chance to see this movie before it hits the shelves! I absolutely loved it! A little different, but loved it! The music, the stories, the graphics, the star studded cast - there are so many reasons to love this movie!
Into The Woods showcases a few of my favorite fairy tales! Cinderella, Rapunzel and Little Red Riding Hood to name a few. While the stories told do not follow the traditional fairy tale exactly, I enjoyed the spin off and the little added pieces of drama. Meryl Streep's portrayal of The Witch was my favorite part! Watching her go from an ugly cursed witch, manipulating the Baker and his wife to get what she wanted to transforming into a beautiful creature and having her world crash down around her. We all just want our children to listen, after all!
This movie is rated PG and I agree 100% with that rating! My six year old daughter would not understand a few of the things added to the story lines. I'm really excited to share this movie with her in a few years when I am certain she is ready!

Today's post is part of a campaign by Disney Parks and MomSelect. Thank you so much for choosing my family to share our DisneySide with the world!
Every chance we get to have the kid's friends over, I jump on it! Most recently we enjoyed our #DisneySide party. Disney sent us a package to get started! Our theme this year was Mickey Mouse so I decided to add a little bit of Minnie for the girls! I'm glad I did! The girls loved the two of them together just as much as I do!
The Disney package we received was fill with some really great goodies! Mickey Mouse plates, decorations, cute nail polishes, Palace Pets and games! Everything you might need to get a party started!
Inside this box was also a box of Duff Tie Dye cake mix! I decided to use this for cupcakes! They're turned out delicious and so very cute!
The kids had a great time just being silly, eating, getting tattoos and being silly all over again! The lunch menu consisted of Honey Ham Hawaiian Sandwiches, so many flavors of Utz chips for everyone to choose from, juice boxes and of course Mickey Ear Cupcakes!
Fun times were had by all! After everyone had a chance to wind down from the food and craziness, we broke out the photo frame and caught some really great pictures!
How do you show your DisneySide? Parties? Shirts? Do you walk around singing the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse song? Tell me below!
