Whatever Wanda! Book Review and Giveaway

Disclosure:  I received one or more products in this post in exchange of an honest review.  All opinions are my own.

Sometimes we just need an attitude adjustment!  This is a lesson I worked on with Allyson as we read Whatever Wanda! by Christy Ziglar.  This lesson could not have come at a better time.  While most days Ally is at school and comes home excited from her day of learning, I don't see the bored/"whatever" attitude I used to see before she started school.   However with her being home on Spring Break it seems the attitude is back and it needed to be squashed like a big bad attitude bug.

Ally started out by reading the story to me.  She kept asking me why Wanda didn't want to participate in the activities with her family and friends.  This is a big change from where we were a year ago.  Allyson used to be the type of girl that was nervous and didn't want to do things that she hadn't done before unless I was there to hold her hand.  This isn't the case any more I am proud to report!  So, when she asked why Wanda was being "whatever" with her family and friends, she just didn't get it!

In the story, Wanda goes through her morning at the annual Rubber Duck Days festival with an attitude of "whatever."  Wanda didn't want to wake up for the day.  Wanda didn't want to wear the matching duck outfit her mother had picked for the whole family.  Wanda didn't want to pick a duck for the Duck Derby.  Wanda also didn't want to pick what job she wanted to do to help you.  By not choosing her job, she was suck with trash duty.  No one else wanted the job, so Miss Whatever was given that one!  Finally when she didn't want to play with her friends in the Waddle Walk, she was left out of the parade.  Suddenly Waddles has a little talk with Wanda about being positive.  It makes everything better!!

Pick up this book and watch Wanda change her attitude around.  It is so often, even as adults we get in our own ways of being positive.  This story is a great way to change that thinking and start over.  The world is out there for us to experience, so why not be positive about it?
