Distance Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

As most of us are getting the turkey prepared and expecting family over at any minute, I am spending time with my little family.  My little family is many miles away from the rest of the people that hold my heart.   I could let this fact get me down, and even let it make this day a very sad one.  That will not be happening.  If you know anything about the person I am from reading through my site, you know that I try to be very positive and uplifting!  My mom taught me to put my big girl pants on and power through.  Even if you are sad.. Its okay to be sad, just move on and smile!

While talking to my sister on the phone yesterday she said something to me that has stayed with me for 12 hours now.  We don't usually share a connection of words that sticks this long.  I think the distance is making words so much more important.  We take for granted the people in our lives, until we can't see them every day or whenever fits in our schedules.

"I wish you were here."

I wish I was home too.  However I am not, so I'm going to put these big girl pants on and smile.  I'm going to smile for my little girl who is missing her Grandma and her Papa.  I'm going to smile for my little man that has no idea what it was like to be around a big family that loves him.  I'm going to smile for my husband who I'm so very sure he is missing his mom, dad, stepdad, sisters, and nephews.  Lastly, I'm going to smile for me.  I'm going to smile for me because I have known a family that loves me and I have been blessed in every area of my life.  Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful and I certainly am.  So very thankful for my little family, who now lives in Paradise, and for my big family back home, in the cold in Kansas!

Happy Thanksgiving!
