My dogs have never been your typical run after a ball and bring it back type of dogs. They're both lazy! They've been lazy since the day we brought them home from the shelter as puppies! They like to play on their own time with their own rules. This usually consists of chasing each other, but never playing with toys. So, what am I to do? However, moving to Florida has changed them a bit. We moved into a home that has a fenced-in back yard and you'd think these 7 year old dogs were puppies again! Petmate has helped put the spark back in my pups!
When Petmate contacted me, I was excited! Knowing we were moving to Florida and they wanted us to review their Aspen Pet Self-Cooling Mat, this helped with my worries on how to keep my dogs cool! I didn't worry too much while we lived in Pennsylvania and even Kansas, about the dogs getting overheated. They were outside to do their business and occasionally for a run. Now with before mentioned fence, my boy Danny likes to hang out in the sun, on his own schedule.
I've noticed after Danny enjoys his time out on the patio that he is a big fan of coming inside to lay on the self -cooling mat! As you can see from the picture, my pup's fur is THICK! He needs to do whatever he can to stay cool! The mat is made to assist in cooling relief in hot climates. That works great as we now live in West Central Florida.
The mat is really easy to clean. This big guy doesn't leave too much of a mess that isn't a ball of hair, but a damp cloth is all you need for most messes that may turn up on the mat.
The Chuckit! is a great way to play with your animals! It lights up and bounces, creating a fun game! As I mentioned before, my dogs don't play much but they enjoy this ball. The ball's lights attract their attention somehow! I've been able to take the dogs outside and throw it while the sun is setting with no problems to find it again!
Finally we have the Play Bites jw. The only way I could get my lazy dogs to be interested in this toy is to stuff some peanut butter inside. It is made with a very this red rubber, that I don't have to worry too much about breaking or ripping off. Apparently peanut butter is the key to my dogs laziness!
My favorite of the three items I've mentioned here is by far the Aspen Pet self-cooling mat. It gives me a little piece of mind to know that my doggies have a way to cool down after they've had so much fun outside! Check out all of the other things Petmate has to offer on their website!
