An Ice Cream I can Enjoy -- So Delicious Ice Cream Review

About a year ago I found out I have a dairy intolerance.  This wasn't that big of a deal when I thought about the small amount of milk I drank on a random basis.  I didn't require cheese most of the time either.  What really got me is no more ice cream.  This was a HUGE problem for me.  Huge I tell you.  Ice cream and me... We were best friends.  You could find me with a bowl of ice cream most nights.  A trip through the Dairy Queen drive thru to get a Blizzard with Chocolate ice cream and Reese's Peanut Butter cup was a very common occurrence, even in the wintry months.  All of that ended when my doctor told me I shouldn't have dairy.  Sad face, for sure.

I've been searching all these months for a way to eat ice cream and not be sick from it.  That is when a friend recommended So Delicious.  The So Delicious at my local Target is made with coconut milk, so I knew it would be fine on my system.  After speaking with the company, they sent me a couple of coupons so I could try out their ice cream, and hopefully form a friendship with ice cream all over again.

Nestled within Oregon’s lush Willamette Valley, So Delicious® Dairy Free has been bringing joy to dairy-free lives for more than twenty-five years. We offer an array of delicious dairy-free delights you can feel good about sipping, biting, pouring, scooping, licking, and chugging throughout your day. From our world-class allergen-testing program to the innovative work we do creating products made with only the highest quality ingredients, we’re committed to doing the right things for people and the planet. Many of our products are made with organic ingredients, and are always 100 percent plant-based and Non-GMO Project Verified with no artificial sweeteners, trans-fats, or hydrogenated oils.

Now, if you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that I have tried a few different flavors.  To start my journey, I tried the Gluten Free, Cookies and Cream.  The flavor was a little sweeter than typical ice cream, but I really enjoyed it!  The cookie pieces were delicious as well.  I really enjoyed this flavor!

Next I tried the Chocolate.  How can you go wrong with chocolate? Being dairy free, I was so happy that I could have my chocolate ice cream.  The doctor advised that I stay away from chocolate as well, but I went ahead and gave it a try.  I'm so glad I did!  Its creamy and sweet and hit the spot perfectly!

The last flavor I had the pleasure of trying was the Mocha Almond Fudge.  This flavor I didn't enjoy as much as the others but it was still a decent ice cream option.  The mixture of the Mocha and Almonds left something to be desired for me.  While I was eating it, I kept thinking, "I wish I would have bought an extra chocolate!"  Compared to the other options this was my least favorite, but still decently delicious.

So, after this little trip down Ice Cream Lane, I have discovered a new friend.  So Delicious and I will continue our relationship and build on it!  I know they offer an Almond Milk variety as well.  I look forward to trying it and more than likely loving it as well!

Take a look at So Delicious' website and learn more about the company.  THEN head to your local grocer (in my case, Target) and pick up your favorite flavor!  So Dairy Free and So Delicious!

  1. Dairy Free...that's definitely the icecream for me! Being that I am on a gall bladder diet I cannot have regular ice cream, so this sounds like a delicious alternative.

  3. I could not imagine having to give up ice cream so I feel your pain. My mom and I have eaten a cup of ice cream nearly everyday for the last 8 years. It's a big addiction for us so to have it taken away I'd definitely have to find another option. Good to know that Soy Delicious is pretty delicious. I haven't tried it yet. I am curious about the Chocolate & Cookies N Cream flavors. I know my mom would love that it's made from coconut milk.

  4. I don't think I could ever give up ice cream! My husband is sort of lactose intolerant and he still eats ice cream even though it gives him a tummy ache!
