Must-Have Marvin! Book Review and Giveaway

Original Review by: Sweet Cheeks and Savings

When I sat down to read Must-Have-Marvin! with my daughter, I knew this would be perfect.  A perfect lesson to see from another's point of view as Ally is the Queen of "I want that!"  Every time there is a commercial on the television that might be speaking about a toy, she wants it.  There are times when she isn't even paying attention to what is on the commercial.  She once told me she would like a Dyson Vacuum. Well, yes Honey... Momma wants a Dyson too!

In Must-Have Marvin!, you get to spend a few days with Marvin.  You will learn that he loves to have new things.  First he is excited about his new shirt.  Then when he sees his friend with the same shirt, but with new shoes, Marvin MUST HAVE the same new shoes!  He also MUST HAVE a trumpet and a Super Galactic Robot! Ignoring his friends, he rushes home to gathers his saved up monies to buy the Robot.  Quickly Marvin learns that if he ignores his friends, he will be lonely.  Robot or no robot, he will feel lonely without other people.  With the help of a very smart neighbor, Marvin learns where he may have made a mistake and does his best to correct it.

Throughout the book, you will see a little star.  This stars helps you gauge how smart Marvin's decisions are.  It's a cute little thing!

I am happy to report that I believe this story got through to Ally.  She understands that it doesn't matter WHAT you have, but it does matter WHO you have around you.  This Momma is very happy with this book.

About Must-Have Marvin!
The second title in the Shine Bright Kids series, Must-Have Marvin! teaches children that people are more important than things.
Marvin loves new things—he especially loves finding the latest, greatest, most awesome new things! Soon Marvin finds himself focusing on a new robot that he wants, to the exclusion of his friends. He lets them down when they need his help and nearly loses their friendship.
Through a chat with a wise neighbor and a second chance to help, Marvin learns the important life lesson that people are more important than things.

  9. This is a book I would LOVE to share with my boys! They definitely need to learn this lesson. They are struggling with why Mommy and Daddy won't buy them everything they want, when all their friend's have the expensive toys and we say NO.

I always thought I NEEDED a horse. As a kid; I thought it was a MUST HAVE. But now as an adult; I can see all the hard work and money it would have cost and yeah. Not something I could have done as a kid.
