If you Google "hugs", you'll find a Wikipedia definition as: A hug, sometimes in association with a kiss, is a form of nonverbal communication. Depending on culture, context and relationship, a hug can indicate familiarity, love, affection, friendship or sympathy. A hug can be given as an indication of support, comfort, and consolation, particularly where words are insufficient. A hug is usually a demonstration of affection and emotional warmth, sometimes arising out of joy or happiness at meeting someone or seeing someone that they have not seen in a long time.
I used to have a friend that would hug me so tight every time I saw him. I would swear my ears were just going to fly right off my head as he would squeeze so tight, but I LOVED it! Friendships change and I think every now and again how I could use one of those hugs to get through the day.
I've also been lucky enough to have an awesome brother that gives really tight hugs! Each time we see each other the hugs are getting tighter and tighter, and I am certainly not going to complain. He may not know how to express his feelings with his words, but his hugs tell me the full story.
My children give the best hugs. No, really... They do!! Trust me! If you are lucky enough, you'll get the tightest, neck gripping, slobber on your cheek hug. If you are even luckier, you'll get the sweetest, skinny armed, quickest hug in the world hug. With one, you'll get hugs over and over.. The other will swoop in for that quick hug and run off like she was never there! Sneaky kid, I tell you!
So, what kind of hugger are you? What's more importantly, what is your favorite type of hug to receive?
I love the hugs from your kids! But I can't say that I'm much of a "hugger" myself. Of course, Alyssa and I give each other hugs. She needs that reassurance and will often come up to me for a hug and/or kiss but I guess I've just never thought about it that much. But that's just me being me, I guess...
