A Little Discipline...

"If you don't get me milk, I'm going to do whatever I want and jump on the couch."  I just heard this come out of my 4 yr old's mouth.  Since when do little children think they can talk like that?  Maybe Spongebob Squarepants has put these ideas in their heads?  I dunno!  Either way, this Momma won't stand for it.

When I was in high school, I had this Choir Teacher that taught us a lot about discipline.  Such a wonderful woman and even better teacher.  She taught us to sit on the edge of the chair, sit up straight, No TALKING!!  You get what I'm talking about.  She wasn't the strict lady that hit your fingers with a ruler if you didn't follow the rules, but this little lady took no bull from anyone.  When I say little, she was like 5 feet tall...  Little, but demanding of only the best!  I will be looking for the discipline she instilled in me today as I deal with this 4 yr old attitude.

In our home, we do the Time Out Method.  One minute for every year of age.  This works very well with Ally, but Cooper just lays down and decides its time to play with the little people in his head.  Either way, Allyson has spent her fair share of time in the spot.  Her personality is very controlling, in-charge, but at the same time she is so sweet.  How does that happen?

Maybe I should be asking.....  How did that teacher teach us the discipline?  Consistency is the answer, I think.  Let's go with that and see how it all ends up!

  1. I do the same time out. But if my daughters continue to act up after they are on time out I start by taking their favorite toy! that usually does the trick!
